Agriparks

Agriparks

Agripark, a networked innovation system of agro-production, processing, logistics, marketing, training and extension services, is aimed at uplifting rural communities with little or no previous agricultural experience. As a network, it enables the market-driven integration of various agricultural and livestock activities, with the support and expertise of industry leaders to increase chances of success.

The programme’s primary objectives are community upliftment through the provision of jobs, schools, churches, markets and, importantly, the transformation of rural small-scale farmers into commercial players who can provide grain, vegetables, meat and milk for economic gain. These farmers share in the technology, mechanisation, lower inputs and off-take agreements offered by the initiative and will become mentors for the next generation of farmers.

An Agripark involves a consortium of diverse partnerships, including private companies that specialise in each component of the programme’s activities. The starting point for a successful venture is the completion of a feasibility study based on agricultural and market data. Nulandis Precision Science has the experience, technology and knowledge to gather and interpret soil, agriculture and weather data for the compilation of a full business plan and financial feasibility study. This document forms the blue-print for an Agripark initiative and in establishing the best combination of crops, infrastructure (including the building of warehouses, communication and power generating systems) and markets for farming operations.
